Our Sessions

Three Ways to Start Writing

Each session is designed around the participant doing the writing. The facilitator provides structure, prompts, and a calm space — the words are yours.

Why Quillkeeper

A Writing Space Built Around You

You Do the Writing

The document belongs to you, created by you. The facilitator offers a framework and thoughtful prompts — your words fill the page.

Unhurried Pace

Sessions are small and calm. There is no pressure to produce more than one clear, honest page at a time. Depth over volume.

Your Records Stay With You

Nothing you write is filed with any institution or retained by the studio. Your document is yours to keep from the day you write it.

Educational Approach

Sessions are informational and reflective. We share publicly available templates and reading materials — not legal or financial advice.

Small Group or One-to-One

Workshop sizes are kept small so every participant receives individual attention from the facilitator throughout the session.

Rooted in Ipoh

Quillkeeper is a local writing studio serving families and individuals across Perak. Sessions are conducted in a quiet, dedicated space on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah.

Questions

Things People Often Ask

Do I need to have any writing experience before attending a workshop? +

No prior experience is needed. The workshops are structured so that anyone who can write a simple sentence can participate. The facilitator will walk you through the process step by step, and the template does most of the organising for you.

What happens to the document I write during the session? +

The document is entirely yours. Quillkeeper does not retain copies of what participants write, does not file your document with any authority, and does not share your content with third parties. You leave the session with the only copy.

Is the Family History Writing Project conducted in English only? +

Sessions are facilitated in English, and participants may write in any language they choose. If you prefer to include content in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, or Tamil, that is entirely fine — the facilitator will work around your choice of language for the written content.

How many people attend each workshop session? +

The Personal Records workshop accommodates up to six participants per session. The Family History project is conducted one-to-one. The Yearlong Subscription is for one individual. Small numbers are intentional — the facilitator should be present for each person, not managing a classroom.

Does the workshop include legal or financial advice? +

No. Quillkeeper workshops are educational and reflective in nature. The facilitator guides you through writing and organising your own information using publicly available templates. For legal or financial matters, participants should consult a qualified professional separately.

How do I pay and when are sessions available? +

Payment details and available dates are shared after you submit an enquiry. Sessions are typically held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. We will confirm a suitable date once we have your enquiry in hand.
