Three Ways to Begin
Writing What Matters

Each service is a structured, unhurried writing experience — designed to help you set your personal records in order, or to bring your family's story into a form that can be read, kept, and shared.

A Considered, Participant-Led Approach

Every service at Quillkeeper follows the same underlying principle: the participant does the writing. The facilitator holds the structure. The result is a document that sounds like the person who wrote it.

01

Orientation

Before any writing begins, we spend time understanding what you want to document — the scope, the audience you have in mind, and the records you already hold.

02

Structure & Prompts

The facilitator provides a working template and guiding prompts drawn from publicly available archival methods. These are the scaffolding — you fill them in your own words.

03

Writing Sessions

Writing happens in one focused workshop or across several sessions depending on the service. The pace is deliberate. There is no pressure to produce more than you are ready to write.

04

A Finished Document

Each service ends with something printed and returnable. The document belongs to you entirely — it is not filed or stored by the studio.

Personal Records Writing Workshop

RM 470  ·  Three hours  ·  Up to 6 participants

A three-hour workshop in which participants are guided through writing a short personal records document — a one-page summary of who they are, what records they hold, and where those records are kept. Led by a senior facilitator using publicly available templates as the starting point.

The document is the participant's own and is not filed with any institution or stored by the studio. The workshop is educational; it does not include legal or financial advice.

  • Guided by a senior studio facilitator throughout
  • Publicly available templates as the working foundation
  • Printed template to take home at the end of the session
  • Curated follow-up reading list for further self-directed work
  • Small group format — up to six participants per session

What happens on the day

  1. 1.Introduction to the template structure and what each section covers
  2. 2.Facilitated writing time — participants work at their own pace
  3. 3.Optional sharing round and guidance on next steps
  4. 4.Printed copy and reading list distributed before participants leave

Family History Writing Project

RM 1,520  ·  Three sessions  ·  One-to-one

A three-session project in which a participant is supported through writing a short family history document — a record of where a household came from, the names and dates of close relatives, and the stories that the family wants written down.

The facilitator provides structure and prompts; the participant does the writing. The work is reflective and archival; it is not counselling and does not include advice on personal circumstances.

  • Three dedicated one-to-one sessions at Quillkeeper Studio
  • Facilitator-provided structure and writing prompts at each session
  • Printed booklet of the completed family history document
  • A follow-up note from the studio three months after the final session
  • All writing and records remain the participant's property

How the three sessions unfold

  1. 1.Session one — Scope and gathering: mapping what you know and what to include
  2. 2.Session two — Drafting: putting names, dates, places, and stories into readable prose
  3. 3.Session three — Review and close: reading through the finished draft and preparing for print

Studio Standards

These commitments apply to every service Quillkeeper offers.

Privacy of Your Records

Nothing you write is stored by the studio. All documents and notes are returned to you. Quillkeeper does not retain copies of participant work.

Educational Scope Only

Our services are educational writing programmes. They do not include legal advice, financial advice, or counselling. We work within that boundary clearly and consistently.

Participant-Paced Writing

The facilitator provides structure, but the writing happens at the participant's pace. Sessions are supportive, not pressured.

Publicly Available Methods

All templates and prompts are drawn from publicly available archival frameworks. We do not hold proprietary methods over your writing process.

Consistent Facilitator Care

Each service is led by a Quillkeeper facilitator trained in the studio's approach. You will not be passed between multiple staff members without notice.

Printed Output Included

Every service includes at minimum one printed output. The price quoted covers the printing — there are no extra charges for the physical copy.

A few questions answered, and we can find the right starting point together.

Write to us at the studio — by email or by phone — and describe briefly what you are hoping to document. We will let you know which service fits your situation.
